US President Donald Trump has announced plans to create an “AI Force” and appoint a new AI czar, putting artificial intelligence at the centre of his administration’s technology agenda.

Trump announced in a lengthy post on Truth Social, saying the proposed AI Force would be modelled on the Space Force, which was established during his first term. However, he did not explain how the new force would be structured, where it would sit within the US government or what powers it would have. The president also said an AI czar would be appointed “in the near future”.

What Will Trump’s AI Force Actually Do?

That remains unclear.

In his post, he said the US would not “hinder or stifle” AI growth but would instead support and monitor the industry. That leaves several questions unanswered: Would the AI Force oversee AI companies, coordinate government AI programmes, focus on national security, or perform another role? The announcement did not provide those details.

Trump Rejects Calls to Slow AI Development

The announcement comes during a growing debate in the US over how quickly artificial intelligence should advance. Trump has dismissed calls for stronger restrictions on advanced AI. In his Truth Social post, he described concerns about AI alignment as a “hoax”.
