Apple is expanding its smart home ecosystem with the new Apple Home Collection, a range of connected accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
The new lineup includes indoor and outdoor smart cameras, thermostats, temperature and humidity sensors, a video doorbell and a smart deadbolt lock. All the devices are designed to work with the Apple Home app, allowing users to set them up with an iPhone and manage them without downloading separate apps or creating additional accounts.
Apple says privacy is a key part of the new range. Data in Apple Home is end-to-end encrypted, meaning Apple, LG Electronics and Schneider Electric cannot access users’ home data.
What is Apple Home Collection?
Apple Home Collection is a new range of smart home accessories designed to work as part of Apple’s Home ecosystem. The products are aimed at making everyday home monitoring, security and climate control easier to manage from the Apple Home app.

The collection builds on the existing ecosystem of thousands of Works with Apple Home and Matter-compatible accessories. Apple says the new products provide a more integrated experience, with devices able to work individually or together as part of a connected home system. The first products will become available from December, while some accessories are expected to arrive in early 2027.
Apple Home Collection: Smart Cameras
LG is introducing four cameras for Apple Home. The range includes a Video Doorbell, Floodlight Cam, Outdoor Cam and Indoor Cam. The cameras can capture video at up to 2.5K resolution and can recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. Users can also access video history through a supported iCloud+ plan, without needing a separate camera subscription.
The LG Video Doorbell uses two cameras to provide separate views of visitors and packages. It also includes a spotlight and can play its chime through HomeView, HomePod or HomePod mini. The LG Floodlight Cam uses adaptive dual floodlights that turn on when motion is detected. It also features low-light colour night vision for monitoring outdoor areas.
The LG Outdoor Cam also supports low-light colour night vision and can be angled to provide flexible outdoor coverage. The LG Indoor Cam takes a different approach to privacy. It can tilt upwards when users check their home and tilt back down when the first household member returns. The camera can also be adjusted manually through the Home app.

With iCloud+, users can access up to 10 days of event video history. On eligible plans, Apple Intelligence can provide descriptions of video clips and allow users to search recordings using natural language.
Apple Smart Lock Uses Ultra Wideband
The new LG Smart Deadbolt Lock is designed to make entering the home more convenient. It uses Ultra-Wideband technology to detect when a user with a home key on a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch is approaching the door. The door can then unlock automatically without requiring the user to tap their device.
Users can also unlock the door using an iPhone or Apple Watch, a built-in PIN pad or a hidden backup key slot. The lock can detect whether the door is open, closed or has been tampered with. Users can also create guest access through the Home app, allowing people such as family members, dog walkers or house sitters to enter when needed.
The doorbell and lock can also work together. When someone rings the doorbell, users can see and speak to the visitor and unlock the door from their Apple devices or through Siri. The lock is Matter compatible and supports Aliro. Apple says its core access functions work locally, so they can continue even if the internet connection is unavailable.
Apple Adds Two Smart Thermostats
Apple Home Collection also brings two smart thermostat options, one from LG Electronics and another from Schneider Electric. The thermostats use Adaptive Temperature in the Home app to adjust the temperature based on whether someone is at home, preparing for sleep or away.

Users can also monitor temperature and humidity across multiple rooms using standalone sensors from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, as well as sensors built into HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini. Both thermostats and the temperature and humidity sensors support Matter and are designed for DIY installation. They also work with a broad range of HVAC systems.
Apple Home Devices Can Work Together
Apple’s new smart home accessories are designed to operate as a connected system rather than as separate gadgets. Setup starts with a single tap using an iPhone. Once added to Apple Home, the devices can be controlled through the Home app or Siri. They also support Thread, which helps maintain connectivity if a Wi-Fi connection drops.
Apple says the products can automatically update their network credentials when a home’s Wi-Fi details change, removing the need to reconnect devices manually. Users can also create scenes that combine several actions. For example, a “Good Morning” scene could adjust the thermostat, change the position of an indoor camera and start music on a HomePod.
The system can also respond to routines. When the last person leaves, the thermostat can adjust for an empty home, the door can lock and the cameras can start monitoring again. Before the user returns, the thermostat can begin adjusting the temperature and the front door can unlock as they approach.
Privacy Remains a Major Focus
Apple is positioning privacy as one of the main features of Apple Home Collection. The company says camera footage and personal data in the Home app are end-to-end encrypted. Apple says the data cannot be accessed by Apple, LG Electronics or Schneider Electric.

Camera footage can be processed locally on the user’s Apple Home hub or through Private Cloud Compute. For users with iCloud+, recordings are stored in encrypted iCloud storage for 10 days.

What does Apple Home Collection mean for smart homes?
With Apple Home Collection, Apple is moving beyond simply supporting third-party smart home accessories. The company is bringing cameras, home access and climate control into a more unified Apple Home experience.
For users already invested in the Apple ecosystem, the appeal is straightforward: fewer separate apps, easier device setup and control through iPhone and Siri, while keeping privacy at the centre of the experience.
