Reliance Jio has announced its Jio AI Glasses, bringing new voice-controlled UPI payments, live language translation & cricket commentary to the wearable tech segment.

Showcased at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, the smart glasses are designed to help users carry out everyday tasks without relying solely on their smartphones.

The announcement adds to Jio’s expanding consumer technology portfolio, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the center of the new device. The company is also highlighting support for multiple Indian languages and an AI voice assistant, making the glasses accessible to a wider audience.

Jio AI Glasses to Enable UPI Scan-and-Pay

One of the main features of the Jio AI Glasses is the ability to make Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions by looking at a QR code and issuing a voice command. This lets users initiate payments through the wearable device instead of manually scanning a code on their phones.

The payment limit currently follows UPI Circle rules, capping transactions at Rs 5,000 each and setting a monthly limit of Rs 15,000.

These limits are applicable based on the UPI Circle framework rather than rules independently set by Jio.

The glasses also feature an AI voice assistant & support multiple Indian languages, allowing users to interact with the device through voice commands.

Live Translation and AI Note-Taking Among Key Features

The Jio AI Glasses also support live language translation, enabling two people speaking different languages to communicate through the wearable device.

Each person can speak in their own language, while the AI handles the translation.

The device will also offer AI-powered note-taking, extending its potential use beyond payments and everyday communication. Jio is also bringing live cricket commentary to the glasses, letting users follow a match on the go.

What Jio AI Glasses Could Mean for Wearable Technology?

The announced features place payments, translation, note-taking and cricket updates within a single wearable device. The practical value of the Jio AI Glasses will depend on how well these functions work in everyday settings and how easily consumers can use them.

For now, Jio has outlined the device’s key capabilities, but the cited report does not specify its price, commercial availability or a launch date. Those details will be important in determining how widely the glasses can be adopted.
