Germany has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging initiative to reduce charging times for drivers significantly.

The project, backed by European Union (EU) funding and research partners, focuses on high-voltage technology that could deliver much faster charging than current systems. The move aims to tackle a persistent hurdle for EV adoption in Europe’s largest economy, long recharge waits and range limitations.

The initiative centres on boosting EV charging power through high-voltage systems that push beyond traditional limits, potentially bringing charging times closer to those of filling a petrol car.
