Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (HUMTA) is reviewing the city’s urban mobility roadmap and stressing safer roads, stronger public transport links and better coordination among civic agencies.
The review is focused on improving daily commuting through integrated planning, better pedestrian infrastructure & smoother connections between different transport modes as Hyderabad prepares for future population and traffic growth.
Focus Shifts to Safer Roads and Better Public Transport
During the review, officials also assessed progress on the Hyderabad Urban Mobility Plan. Road safety has been placed first, and last-mile connectivity and seamless travel remain at the heart of future planning.
The discussions highlighted the need to strengthen coordination between departments responsible for roads, public transport and urban infrastructure so projects can be implemented more productively.
The meeting also underlined the importance of making walking and cycling safer, improving junctions, expanding pedestrian facilities and ensuring commuters can move easily between Metro, buses and MMTS services.
Officials believe an integrated transport network will reduce dependence on private vehicles while making public transport more reliable and convenient.

Integrated Mobility Remains the Long-Term Goal
HUMTA reiterated that the city’s mobility strategy aims to create a single, coordinated transport system rather than isolated infrastructure projects.
Officials reviewed measures that support multi-modal integration, including improved station access, better traffic management and stronger planning between transport agencies.
The authority has been working to strengthen institutional coordination through dedicated working groups covering policy, road infrastructure, public spaces and intelligent traffic management. These are expected to accelerate decision-making and improve execution of mobility projects across the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region.
