The latest clearances add to earlier approvals under the scheme. MeitY had previously cleared 24 applications with investments of ₹12,704 crore, followed by another 17 projects in a second tranche approved in November, involving investments of ₹7,172 crore. According to a note issued by the ministry, the third tranche of approvals spans manufacturing across 11 target product segments. These include components for mobile phones, telecom equipment, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive electronics and IT hardware.
Components included
The approved proposals cover a wide range of components such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), lithium-ion cells, connectors, camera modules, display modules, aluminium extrusions and mobile phone sub-assemblies. The projects will be set up across eight states—Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan—with some employment spillover also expected in Telangana.
