With the Samsung Galaxy S26 series just days from launch, Samsung has confirmed a major upgrade to its Galaxy AI ecosystem. The South Korean tech giant is integrating Perplexity’s AI assistant into its upcoming devices, positioning it as part of a broader “multi-agent” system designed to simplify everyday interactions.
In a recent press note, Samsung pointed to a clear shift in user behaviour. According to the company, nearly eight in ten users now depend on more than two types of AI agents. As digital assistants become embedded in daily routines, Samsung appears keen to expand user choice rather than rely on a single AI layer.

Perplexity will join Galaxy AI as an additional agent across Samsung’s ecosystem. The integration will extend beyond core system functions to first-party apps such as Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, along with select third-party applications. By weaving the assistant directly into these tools, Samsung aims to offer more contextual and seamless interactions rather than standalone chatbot-style responses.
Won-Joon Choi, President, COO and Head of the R&D Office for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, said the company remains focused on building an open AI environment. He described Galaxy AI as an orchestrator that brings multiple AI systems together into a cohesive experience, giving users greater flexibility and control when managing complex tasks.

Users will be able to activate Perplexity by saying “Hey Plex” or by pressing and holding the side button for quick access. The assistant is designed to reduce the friction involved in daily tasks, whether organising notes, setting reminders, or searching for information, by understanding context across apps and services within the Samsung ecosystem.
The integration is expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 lineup, which is likely to include the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The devices are scheduled to launch on February 25, 2026. This year’s unveiling is expected to highlight Samsung’s growing emphasis on on-device intelligence and smarter search capabilities. With Perplexity joining Galaxy AI, the company appears to be strengthening its multi-agent strategy as competition in the AI-powered smartphone space intensifies.
