Google has selected four Indian startups for its debut Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet (APAC) programme. This brings them into a 16-startup cohort focused on using artificial intelligence to address environmental challenges across the Asia Pacific region.
The selected startups are Terrastack, Varaha Climate, Farmers for Forests and Climitra Carbon. Over the next three months, the startups will get access to Google’s latest AI tools, technical support and expert mentorship.
The programme began with a hands-on bootcamp in Singapore and will support startups, non-profits and research teams working on environmental problems. Google said participants will work with AI models including AnthroKrishi, ForestCast, AlphaEarth Foundations, SpeciesNet and Perch.

Four Indian Startups Selected For Google’s AI Accelerator
- Climitra Carbon, founded in 2025 by Shubhankar Mihir Seth, Shaurya Sharma and Aryaman Mihir Seth, is based in Delhi NCR. It converts waste biomass into industrial-grade bio-coal and biochar. Its bio-coal is designed as a direct replacement for fossil coal in steelmaking, while its biochar business focuses on permanent carbon dioxide removal.
- Farmers for Forests (F4F), founded in 2019 by Krutika Ravishankar, Aditya Avinashe and Arti Dhar, is headquartered in Pune. It uses payments for ecosystem services to encourage farmers and communities to restore degraded land. Its work includes agroforestry, forest protection, urban biodiversity, restoration and climate and ecology education.
- Mumbai-based Terrastack, founded in 2024 by Aaryan Dangi and Milind Sohoni, is building a geospatial platform for rural land intelligence. It combines satellite imagery, mapping tools and digital land records to help digitise land boundaries and ownership, support analysis and simplify verification, transactions and governance.
- Varaha Climate, founded in 2022 by Madhur Jain, Ankita Garg and Vishal Kuchanur, operates carbon dioxide removal projects across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Ivory Coast. The WestBridge-backed startup works with smallholder farmers on regenerative agriculture and agroforestry to generate carbon credits. It also plans to offer industrial companies digital monitoring, reporting and verification services.

Google Expands Climate-Tech Push In India
Google’s wider India climate initiatives include plans to scale its AI-powered Solar API across 300 million Indian rooftops for automated roof surveys and solar layouts. It has also signed a four-year agreement with Mitti Labs for 1 million carbon credits through 2030, covering rice-farming projects across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
Google has separately signed a 150 MW long-term solar power agreement with ReNew Power in Rajasthan, taking its announced Scope 3 solar projects in India to 300 MW.
The accelerator puts four Indian climate-tech startups into a programme that combines AI tools with work on land, agriculture, carbon removal, and biodiversity. Over the next three months, the selected companies will show how they translate that technical support into scalable solutions.
