Delhi to Launch E-District 2.0 with AI Chatbot and Faster Citizen Services

The Delhi government is preparing to introduce E-District 2.0, a significantly upgraded version of its digital services portal, with a focus on improving efficiency, accessibility, and overall user experience. Officials said a consultant has already been appointed and given a three-month timeline to submit a detailed roadmap for redeveloping the platform. The goal is to make the system more intuitive and reduce the friction citizen often face while accessing government services.

A key feature of the proposed upgrade is the integration of a bilingual AI chatbot. This tool is expected to assist users in real time, helping them navigate services, resolve queries, and complete applications more smoothly. The broader plan also includes simplifying application processes and making the platform easier to use for people across different backgrounds.

Currently, the e-district portal offers 453 services across 41 government departments and has around 8.78 million registered users. With E-District 2.0, the government aims to expand the range of services further, bringing more departments and offerings onto a single digital platform.

In addition to improving usability, the government is also exploring the use of blockchain technology to strengthen data security and ensure greater transparency in service delivery.

To shape the next phase of the portal, officials plan to hold review meetings with key departments, including transport, revenue, food and civil supplies, social welfare, and women and child development. These discussions will focus on understanding citizen concerns, identifying gaps in existing services, and gathering feedback on what should be added or improved.

The upgrade reflects a broader push to modernise public service delivery in the capital, with an emphasis on making government interactions faster, simpler, and more reliable for citizens.
