Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh toured the Electric Vehicle (EV) Expo at Bharat Mandapam and said, “The rapid progress made by Indian manufacturers in electric vehicles, components and clean mobility technologies reflects the country’s growing capability and confidence in the sector”.
He interacted with exhibitors and reviewed a range of electric mobility solutions and Make in India EV products displayed by domestic companies. During his visit, he emphasised that electric mobility is a central pillar of India’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. How it Matters?
Establishing the link between energy reforms and sustainability, the union minister mentioned how recent policy initiatives aim to boost clean and reliable energy sources. He said India’s goal is to sync electric mobility with global clean energy trends while focusing on development. Highlighting the practical advantages of electric vehicles, the Minister said EVs are easier to drive and operate compared to conventional vehicles. The growing use across multiple segments, including ambulances, e-rickshaws, passenger vehicles and commercial transport, makes them suitable for different mobility needs.
Dr Singh also underlined the role of the EV sector in promoting entrepreneurship and job creation in the modern day market. The government-backed ecosystem has enabled many aspiring entrepreneurs to start EV-related startups with relatively small investments. The technical and financial assistance from government policies like Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) is helping them scale these businesses into high-turnover ventures.
